“It was really fun,” she added.

To this day, I have no idea what spurred her question months after the holiday. For some, Christmas has easily been forgotten by March. Spring is about to come, and the excitement of leaving winter behind is growing at a rapid pace.

Others might still be carrying Christmas with them, but in the much less cheerful form of lingering credit card debt incurred during the holiday season. While I don’t know for sure, I can only guess that months later my child was still holding onto the joy of Christmas, and isn’t that how it should be?

Now some of you might wonder what a ridiculous question she posed, of course Christmas comes again. However, you have to realize that the things we intuitively know, wasn’t always so.

At 3 years old, children are still trying to piece the world together. Every day they are making connections of how things work. They also have no concept of time. The idea that Christmas happens every year is lost on someone who can’t remember what happened yesterday or the day before, let alone an entire year ago.

From a 3-year-old’s perspective, Christmas is definitely fun. Think about it, not only is it a holiday, but it is also a birthday party. It is Jesus’ birthday, and while we don’t know everything yet at that age, we do know Jesus is special and birthdays are special and therefore it is one very special day.

So yes, let’s do Christmas again!

As Christians, we know our Saviour only needed to come to Earth once, however we should certainly celebrate the day of His birth over and over again. To have that annual time to rejoice and be reminded how God sent His son as a demonstration of His love for us.

Jesus came to Earth to do the will of His Father. He came to preach about the kingdom of God. He came to call sinners to repentance. He came to seek and save those who are lost. He came to declare Himself as King.

He came to bear witness to the truth. He came to be a light in the world, to draw people out of darkness. He came to demonstrate the true purpose of life. He came into the world to die on the cross.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
—John 3:16

Jesus came so that we may live!

Let us rejoice each and every day and year after year that our Saviour was born.

So on that March day, as I responded to my daughter, I smiled and said, “Yeah, I think we can do Christmas again.”

With that, I wish you, your family and your farm a very blessed Christmas once again.  end mark
