Ken Leslie, Professor Emeritus at the University of Guelph was the recipient of the first-ever National Mastitis Council (NMC) Award of Excellence for Mastitis Prevention and Control.

The award was sponsored by Prevention Works from Boehringer Ingleheim Vetmedica, Inc., and will be awarded annually to an active NMC member for sustained contribution to mastitis prevention and control through research, extension or education, clinical practice or service to producers.

032912-wde-board-dirWorld Dairy Expo’s Board of Directors approved five new members at its annual meeting, held March 6 at the Alliant Energy Center, in Madison, Wisconsin.

The board is composed of a variety of dairy business professionals from the U.S. and Canada. Established in 1970 as World Dairy Expo, Inc. (WDE), the board serves in an advisory role to the management.

Five new members will join the board of directors. The new directors include: Buster Goff, Callum McKinven, Paula Bovre, Jim Crowley, Jr. and Kate VandenBosch.

World Dairy Expo announced it will be hosting the International Jersey Show in 2012.

Jersey breeders have competed at World Dairy Expo for 45 years, since the very first show in Madison in 1967. The quantity of Jersey show entries has grown steadily over time and today’s competition draws in more than 360 animals that compete on the colored shavings.

JCB, the world’s largest privately-owned construction equipment manufacturer, is building upon the success of its New Generation skid steer and compact track loader line with the addition of eight new small platform machines.

The eight new machines – the 135, 155, 175, 190 and 205 skid steers and the 150T, 190T and 205T compact track loaders – complement JCB’s nine large platform New Generation models launched in November 2010.
